LearnGen is an AI-driven tool developed with instructional designers in mind. The prototype is designed to take various documents, be it software manuals, presentation slides, or a brief handout, and convert them into organized learning objectives and a corresponding course framework.
I developed LearnGen in response to challenges I observed with existing generative AI tools being used for instructional design:
While tools like ChatGPT are powerful, they can sometimes produce inaccurate or "hallucinated" content. In instructional design, accuracy is paramount.
Many AI tools excel at generating individual content elements. However, integrating these elements into an aligned, cohesive learning module often falls on the designer.
While fully-automated content generation is efficient, it can sometimes exclude valuable human expertise and quality checks.
LearnGen redefines content generation by anchoring its process in real-world documents. It seamlessly blends AI capabilities with a structured design process. Furthermore, it emphasizes the importance of human touch, ensuring a balance between automation and human expertise.
